Great song! You know in all this time I’ve never put the lyrics “There’s a sign in the desert that lies to the west” & “A wheel in perpetual motion” with “Faces that show no outward emotion” to Las Vegas but now it makes perfect sense. I agree with what Anomaly57 had to say about it. Well c’mon it’s kinda obvious now that the song is referencing gambling and Vegas and other places I guess.

BUT you don’t t have to take that as the meaning of the song if you don’t want to, if this makes any sense. It CAN be interpreted any way you like if you prefer. I’ve ALWAYS thought that it had to do with life itself. Meaning fate, destiny, good ol luck, fortune, that kind of thing.

“The game never ends when your whole world depends on the turn of a friendly card”. Which is a way describing fate itself. Are you going to get that house? Get approved for that loan? Get that car? Get that job? Get out of that possible prison sentence? Get a good doctors prognosis when you’re afraid that something’s wrong? Find out that person(s) forgave you? Get that girl? Will you/this be alright? What an I going to do? What’s going to happen,

It “never ends” when it all depends on the revelation(s) of fortunate circumstances that can go or not go your way. The “turn of a friendly card”. So much of life is a gamble too, where the lyric also does apply to.

I’ve always thought that there was a lyric in the that went “They think there lives will be easier but the doorway before them is barred”. For some reason I thought I heard that one time and but when I look at the lyrics I can’t find any mention of it. Hmmmm….wonder why in all this time I thought that it was in the song. Who knows. That’s the magic of music and songs I guess. Hope you liked my interpretation as well.
