I don't drink, so my interpretation is a little different. That person is calling because they're High on Love for the other, but the other one is not really feeling it, so they don't really want to communicate when that is what caller has on the mind. They even brush the caller off by mentioning that they have to get up in the morning, which causes "caller person" to deflate and tumble off of their "Love Cloud".
I say, as long as they're answering the phone, Keep at it "Caller Person!"
