A correction? I think he says “Just dragon flies, Flying to the south” The comments on Buddhism are really interesting! I think this song is about loss of innocence as we get older. As kids we do things like jumping off a pier into a lake— pure in the moment and innocent— with nobody getting hurt. Sleight of hand and we’re older, and our decisions and actions begin to take on the weight of sometimes having to make decisions that hurt others. The final lines to me are a wish that things could be pure and simple again— the water is clear and innocent— not like the pains and responsibilities of life as an adult. The beauty of this song is hard to put into words but every time I listen to it I feel all the joys and regrets of my life. It’s a masterpiece.
