So hey I'm not going to try to read to much into the lyrics beyond what's clearly stated. But, I'm here to point out the counter play of the lyrics and the music. The awesome blues energy of the riffs seems to me to be describing the agony of the pre-numbing. So he speaks a story of having to be separated from his reality then he plays sounds that can only be described as a tortured wail. Hey maybe that's it - I'm saying and acting one way but if you listen and see deeper I'm screaming in agony.
