Evident themes in both the lyrics, video (and album cover) are God's sovereignty, Satan and God. Satan's nature as the father of lies, a stealer, and killer are illuded to in. The song in some way presents a human philosophy being perpetuated: Mankind is sadly subjected to its own philosophy: we all have been a victim - as a consequence due in part of residing in a broken world. Its hard and not right, but God is certainly not to blame. What matters presently is how we respond when truth is presented. Overemphasis on God's sovereignty can be seen as a theme: this leads to the idea that created beings' free will doesn't matter (essentially we are all robots, incapable of love(which involves choice) who are preprogrammed to go to either heaven or hell). Such a wrong view sadly perpetuates a mischaracterization of Who God is and who we are as revealed in the fullness of the Bible. Mankind's tendency is to cherrypick verses that suit how we feel about God. Satan chose to rebel against God. Mankind fell with Adam's sin, when he and Eve chose a deception, to go their own way, over God's revealed truth. Adam and Eve became spiritualy dead, and seperated from God who is completely Holy, loving, just and without any evil. The song in essence accuses God of puppeterring and/or being the same (or even worse) morally than Satan. If I'm reading correctly, it blurs between Satan and Jesus in the first half, likely as to argue the supposed hypocracy of Jesus. Consider also: "see the lighting in your eyes" a reference to "I saw Satan fall like lightning". Then the penner identifies with the supposed injustice towards Satan in the second half (essentially claiming he too must just be a victim of a morally evil, dominating God). If this is true, the penner is writing as a created being, attempting to mock His Creator in Jesus, because He supposedly fully set up, caused and won a battle He always knew He'd win ("nice work you did..."). Both Satan and mankind having freewill however, they both chose rebellion. Regardless of bad teaching and philosophy we are exposed to, we are the causers/product of our own rebellion, and are accountable. The truth to remember with this is that God chose in love to send His Son to die for the whole world, everyone. Jesus chose in love to die for man's sins so that whosoever will come to Him will be saved. Man can't earn salvation. This is called God's grace. To recieve this free gift one must make a choice to respond to His revealed truth in faith: beleive in Christ to take away one's sins and to give them eternal life. Ask Him to do this and He will do it. God cannot lie. Please do your own homework when God's goodness is questioned, dont just accept it as fact. There is in fact "more to say." And that is: its not too late. The unpardonable sin only applies to those who do not already belong to Christ and that continues to reject Him and harden their heart against His loving offer of salvation. Today if you feel He calling you to Himself, don't harden your heart. He loves you. If you remain unsure, I reccomend start by reading the book of John, while asking the Lord to reveal Himself to you.
