I think this song about caring too much about the world outside ones life and mind, thinking about all the pressure from social norms, the confusing state of friendships and love life, family complications, all the fucked up shit, injustice and suffering that's happening around the world, slavery, child labour etc. to the point that the speaker decides not to give a fuck anymore. It's like the singer is swinging between these two state of caring and having feeling for everybody and then it becomes too big for her and she turns numb to protect herself. And eventually she grows up and understand how these problems are not soluble (maybe because they are just a part of nature or maybe much bigger and complicated than she thought) and at most, they will only be a minor disruption or distortion to her sense of clarity, self-control, or emotional stability.
