This song, just like every other song, is left up to listener interpretation. In my opinion, this song was inspired by hearing criticism and opinions shared through a wall. As a touring band, one who I saw live many years ago in Phoenix, they inevitably stayed in a hotel room or two. I find it curious that many people who met the band say that they are really nice people. If you're hearing voices, then you let everything slide. Why bring attention to your mental health? But when you realize the voices are in fact real and they're spending too much time focusing on you, entire days even... Then you need to say something that you know they will listen to. "Are you listening?" "Words without remorse." I'm sure the band is comprised of nice people. However, if one crosses a line it's okay to deviate from a normal tone into one that will grab the listener's (listeners') attention. A lot of people are nice and good. But a few out there have a frightening side to them. A mean, honest, side that makes people cry. To the point where the words alone are scary enough to lock doors from the inside. Let alone breaking "knuckles before they bleed." "Come get to me." You know where I am. You know what I do. "Let the walls have their say." The comments through the walls were given ample time to become self aware. They chose not to. "This place. These walls." "Everything to me."
