I think it is about how humans work - we have parts of ourself, and some of that have it more distinct for many reasons (usually trauma). We also change over time, have influences from being raised, different jobs or roles, locations, languages which can also influence thought in different ways. And I think this is Jerry literally hearing those parts and memories of himself. Perhaps a bit of identity confusion as part of that. Perhaps also thinking he is a bit nuts and this could be a hot topic, but he seems to know others are like this too - what is that like for them? Sometimes those parts of us can be exiled, asleep or locked away too.
