Fellow Feeling Lyrics

This is an interesting song, as I believe it was attempted to show meaning through both the lyrical content/conditions and the musical composition interacting to form a single narrative. So, instead of the music simply setting the tone for what the lyrics were about, they serve as equal metaphorical images. I see the song as having 3 sections. The first is representing beauty, wonder, intrigue, existentialism, etc, as an emotive, epic symphony. The second section right after verse 1, cuts in abruptly, interrupting the angelic strings with bras, rough and convoluted, hard and dirty beats, chopped up in a complex manor, almost glitchy, if you will. This part represents the counter part to the initial beauty. The contrasting element seems to be a polar opposite, but your interpretation drastically changes the moment the 3rd section begins. The unlikely pairing of opposites, the convergence of the beautiful and the ugly, an unexpected mesh of contrasting elements that together, create a perfect balance of energy and appreciation for the effect music can have on the listener. Think the "yin and yang", which represents the perfect duality of light and dark, good and evil, an equilibrium of competitive forces which require one another to be in balance and cancel each other out. This metaphor is of course seem across all time, and all cultures, through their symbolism, especially ones of a symmetrical quality.
