It sounds like LSD and Ovid’s myth of the Minotaur “Where is the string that Theseus laid?” The labyrinth serves as a metaphor for the human condition, reflecting the search for meaning in a chaotic world. He is looking for that “string”- a way out of this sacrificial lesson. “Of black matted lace of pregnant cows” etc The Minotaur is often examined as a representation of the unconscious mind or darker desires in the maze is having to confront their personal Minotaurs. Replacing the “maiden” for the “Piccadilly/dope whores”, lower desires..“Yin-yang” confusing illusions of dark and light (a flat field) battle in the mind. A world without gray area is black or white and boring all over aka ‘flat’. Right/wrong - maiden/whore this/that opposite extremes. “Into the chasm gaping we” and “Assist me to walk away in sin” The myth and lyrics both underscore the importance of companionship and support to navigate out of the labyrinth. “Cerebral fix” Begging for some buddy/shit/something creative. World forces you onto the boring one-dimensional plane or flat field nail stands out hammered down in shame(illusions/shame/social conditioning/expectation trauma)
