Here in California Lyrics

Incredible song.

I think this is about a woman who is scared about falling in love with a man that is taken with her.

she was raised to be careful with her heart.

Things are moving fast with a man, and she says if he takes it slow, she can open up to him.

I believe she is referring to herself when she says California - California is the land of milk and honey, golden shores, bountiful harvest, etc. Fruit heavy on the vine - she's ripe, mature, and ready for a relationship. But she's worried that his infatuation will wane when he realizes she's not perfect (there's no gold, hills turn brown in the summertime).

I think it's a beautiful song, and a hopeful one, if he can accept her faults, go slow, and see her for who she is, she can open up to him.
