This seems to be about a woman stuck in unhealthy relationship and begging to be loved. The first verse sets out that there is jealousy, possession which 'isn't nice', that is, incongruent. The 'everything is new, all i've learned is overturned' suggests that a deception has been revealed. She sees herself as having been an easy target, having being charmed by small talk and a smile, and then blames herself for being mistreated. She feels anxious and unsatisfied when her man is away, leading to shame. The chorus line 'don't go sharing your devotion' suggests there is another person involved, which explains all the mixed feelings and confusion. Despite this, she is pleading to be loved. She admits that she was vulnerable, and the line 'everything was you' suggests she is now starting to regain her power and see her man as being to blame for her heartache.
