This song is just great, in my opinion one of Tom’s best. There are many, but this song means a lot to me.
For me the song is about the war that is sometimes fought between two former lovers after a divorce. Processes in court. The hard words. The immense sadness that is the only outcome. The only ones to benefit are the lawyers. The constant fighting about the small things, where the so called friends and aquaintances are popping popcorn, just waiting for the next gossip to come out.
Until one day when one of them has enough - for the benefit of all. Not least the children, who sit between without guilt. Ask me how I know.
