I think the words are meant to be Satan's and he's trying to convince us he's the chosen one, fighting for us against a cruel god. He's The Fallen Angel that sees himself as our savior. And he is very convincing. I would think it's Jesus except for the following:
"Could it be it's the end of our world?
All the things that we cherish and love
Nothing left but ot face this all on my own"
Jesus will not be facing it alone and I don't think he would express such attachment to our world. Satan will be facing it alone. And attachment to our world is why The Watchers rebelled.
