I want to say thank you to the two individuals who posted comments/opinions here thus far. I'm surprised that more have not commented to be honest.
I just now listened to this for the first time. Those who have posted comments here already have absolutely hit the proverbial hammer squarely on the nail. It is about an AFFAIR. I would not have been able to have known this had it not been for the comments previously posted.
I am a 58 year old man. Back in 2004 I met a lady online who lived in a different state than where I lived at the time. I didn't know it at the time, but she was still (legally) married. She was waiting for her divorce to be processed by the court, but she was still married legally.
We carried on a long distance physical relationship for about a year before it ended. I was cut to the core when she ended it. I actually ended up marrying my 2nd wife not long after this long distance affair ended. The 2nd marriage also did not last. It ended after about 8 years. I have been through a lot of heartache to say the least. But getting back to this song ...........
We used to spend weekends together, Sue and I did (the legally married woman, back in the early 2000s). Then, one, or the other ....... or in some instances BOTH of us ....... would have to get back on the plane to fly back to our hometown(s). I lived in ABQ, NM, and she lived in Burbank, CA. I am actually back in ABQ now, but this is beside the point here. Sue and I used to meet up in PHX, AZ for weekends periodically. We would stay in a nice hotel there.
My point is, is that I can definitely relate with this song. On SO many different levels. I honestly wanted to marry her. But the main reason this could not happen was because I was never able to form a peaceable relationship with her older son, who was a troubled teenage child at the time. But this song really rings true for me though.

Thanks for reading my rant.
