Often thought to be about a night time cocaine session. Midnight Mile being slang for a line of coke “With a head full of snow” Mick Jagger in an interview with the Wall Street Journal dispelled those assumptions. Mick Said is was inspired by nothing more than the boredom and loneliness he felt traveling as a touring musician.

The way I like to interpret it is that the song is about intense feelings of loneliness and longing to be home with the one you love. However it conveys a sense of hope that he is headed the right way and they will be reunited eventually. “I’ve got silence on the radio, let the airwaves flow” portrays the feeling of not being in contact and being out of sync with each other but wanting to resume communication.

That nothing is exciting and no one else he cares about. That he is just merely existing and counting the days until they can be together. That as crazy at things get, having the one person who makes sense ultimately makes everything okay. “Just another mad, mad day on the road. I am just living to be lying by your side”

“I’m hiding baby and I’m dreaming. I’m riding down your moonlight mile” About master-bating while thinking about your lover. Seriously romantic.
