Lorelei Lyrics

When "Sting in the tail" was released, back in 2010 or so, I realized that The Scorpions were dealing for the first time since many years with a mythological/fantasy theme. Lorelei was, in the German folklore, a dangerous siren who attracted sailors along the river Rhine with her sweet voice and song, but here she clearly represents someone who left you when you're still in love with her/him. So to say, Lorelei is used as an allegory for heartbreak. Though the whole lyrics are beautiful and perfectly fit the atmosphere of this amazing ballad, I think the last verse is the most powerful and intense:

"Now there's a light that shines on the river Blinding my eyes from so far away Shot through the heart but now I know better As hard as it is to resist the song that you play"

I think this means that, even if someone has wounded you once, you can't help falling in love with another again; and you will surely be much more experienced and aware...
