I may be wrong but it's a Stevie's song and there is a chance I interprete the lyrics alright. In the first verse she sings about her break up with some lover. The second verse's about how it was always difficult for her to leave Fleetwood Mac for a while and run her solo career. It was always a kind o freedom to her but it was also a fear - her bandmates could have had enough of that and fire her. Well Lindsley was mainly against her plans. I feel there are also references to drugs. But I think in all of this she's just singing about the dissatisfaction of being a musician - she's down and music doesn't give her too much joy like it used to do before.
But maybe somebody knows the better or real meaning about this song ;)? I would be glad that person put a comment then.
