In the musical he has prophetic dreams and can interpret dreams, it is sang at the start and doesn’t make any sense but then as the story unfolds it turns out he has dreamed the story prior to it actually happening.
I.e he gets the coat, it is taken from him by his brothers and then he returns to the beginning as he is reunited with his father, brothers and coat.
The song is then sang at the end of the musical so the audience realise the connection between the events of the musical and his dreams prior.
