I love this song, one of myfavorite albums, but never associated the meaning to be about music at all. Clearly, 'New Song' is about the corporate contract demands and such, but here it resonates a feeling of addiction. Not lost yet, but hitting a bottom that is unacceptable and the desire to control and not surrender (which ends pretty poorly with a rough ride, a lot of heartache, and dozens of totally awesome tunes that "tear right at my soul")
