To me, it sounds like a girl/woman was trying to turn the narrator into someone else: "She tried to make me world the way she thought it should be". She wanted to mold, sculpt, transform him into her fantasy image. He could not deal with it anymore. He needed to leave because she refused to accept the real person. She wanted her fantasy, not him.
