Lyric discussion by Diablohunter240

My interpretation of this song is that it is about a person who is dealing with trauma. This trauma whether they mean to or not is causing them to self sabotage in their relationship with a person ( it seems romantic but honestly it could be any relationship)

Evidence:

" You were, the chance, for me to open up my heart . Yet I saw you fly away from me and I know you won't be coming back"

Almost immediately, the lyrics give off a feeling of profound sorrow and pain, whoever they were spending time with was someone who brought the best out of them and was able to allow them to feel comfortable opening up to them despite their trauma telling them not to. Due to this opening up, they got scared and self sabotaged, most likely not scaring the person away but making them refrain from wanting the singer to open up.

"My loneliness is wrapped in fear, I wanna get near but I gotta stay. Behind the confines of a dream, I wanna get near but I gotta say it's so much easier to runaway"

These lyrics hit pretty close to home for me, the singer wants to open up and be heard, they dream of being able to truly tell someone their deepest emotions. They want to feel close to someone, they feel so profoundly lonely and they want to feel like they are heard but they are terrified of facing those thoughts and feelings, they are terrified of putting trust in someone so it is much easier to run away from them and avoid being hurt.

"So close, So near, my every thought was filled with you, can't take the risk loosing and not pulling through, so I pushed you away from me"

This is where I believe the song could easily be a romantic one. If it isn't it could easily relate to a favourite person, someone who they are completely consumed with, thinking about them obsessively. They got close to them and feeling that close is an amazing feeling but there is the fear of not being able to pull through and having them go away and dealing with the pain of that. So the singer pushed them away, distanced themselves from them

" And I know you won't be coming back"

I am unsure if this is literal, but regardless of any interpretation it means that the relationship the singer had with the person will never repair. If it was a friendship they either dont want to get close again or don't want to talk, if it's a relationship they have broken up. Either way losing a favourite person can be extremely painful especially if it's due to self sabotage
