I think it's about real love, and how love is not always easy, he talks about the dark side of love, that sometimes it takes work, sometimes you may go through hard times and you have to try to keep your love alive. I realised something which I don't think many people realised but i love how it starts with "so many years we've tried to keep our love alive" and it changes from "tried to keep" to "and kept our love alive" . Almost as if all the hardship was worth it. That they always figured things out together, and always practiced forgiveness and compassion and started over in the act of unconditional love. This is a rare type of love especially in this generation. Nobody thinks it's over until it's over. Everybody wants to run as soon as things get hard
