I don't think its "m-16" like the gun, it's "M-i6" as in the UKs version of the CIA and what was the KGB (although thats not really the official name, it's colloquial like our internal affairs version was called M-i5,M-i7 was for propaganda and m-i8 for radio security service. They aren't really around anymore though since the cold war ended but been taken over by other organisations like Serious Organised Criminal Agency has taken over M-i5 for example).
