It was Watergate, with our president resigning in disgrace. The Apollo program was being abandoned. The Arab Oil Embargo was is full swing. The Cold War was at its height, and the USSR was looking indomitable.
What else could be going wrong for America?
Many of us felt a measure of despair for our country at that time. Dennis captured it well.
