At first you hear the song and think ‘oh what a cute love song, so warm and comfortable’. And then you read the lyrics and slowly you begin to realise that you’ve been got. You realise this relationship is between a father and child, and that this is about sexual abuse. You feel sickened and disgusted. You genuinely feel like you’ve been manipulated. I went through the phases of grief reading the lyrics. It feels like you yourself have been sort of abused.
