Heard this groovy tune way back in 1968 as I was getting ever closer to military draft age. The sentiments conveyed speak of life experiences I had yet to confront personally. The thoughts and concerns and mentions all made an impression upon me that has lasted over the decades.

Luck kept me from being drafted but misfortune led to entering the military to avoid abject homelessness. As I underwent the rigors of the military including two overseas tours this tune would regularly enter my thoughts and propel me forward in a positive way.

Decades go by and I enter the Web in 1995. As the Web grew in size and user base I sought out Gayle Caldwell, the writer of Cycles. Finding her I swapped a few e-mails thanking her for writing a song that actually influence my life in positive ways along with providing aural happiness. I am glad I did so because not long thereafter I learned that she had died. Sigh,

Thank you, Gayle. Your song with its lyrics and conveyed sentiments had a positive influence upon my life.
