This song is about his dad and aunt's death, but it could be about your girlfriend/boyfriend dying for others. That's what it was about for me.

"I lived with your sister, my first home since Mom had left" the narrator lives with her BF's sister because his Mom left home. This song, in my opinion, also rotates between the views of a boy and a girl who are going through the same thing.

"And then he said goodbye way too soon, and this don't feel right without you" The girl's BF died way too soon and life doesn't feel okay without him.

"Lonely, lonely even when the room is full, I'd trade it, trade it, I would trade it all for you. Lonely, lonely even when the room is full, I'm lonely, lonely, lonely without you" This means that the girl's at the funeral filled with people and even though so many people are trying to soothe her, she wishes this wasn't even happening in the first place.

"She cried when she picked me up. Goddamn, how I miss her. 'Cause, she didn't give a fuck" This is in the boy's point of view when he gets put in jail and his GF has to pick him up and she's crying because she was so scared. He misses her because she didn't care about what was bad that he did because she still loved him.

"And then she said goodbye way too soon. And this don't feel right without you" same thing for the boy's point of view.

"Lonely, lonely even when the room is full, I'd trade it, trade it, I would trade it all for you. Lonely, lonely even when the room is full, I'm lonely, lonely, lonely without you" The boy is at his GF's funeral, and he doesn't give a fuck about people's sympathy or how many people are there because he just wants to have his GF back.

"The last time I saw you, I cried, I wished you had more time left. The last time I heard you, they held the phone, and you took your last breath. The last time I saw you, I cried, I wished you had more time left. The last time I heard you, they held the phone, and you took your last breath" this is in both the girl's and boy's point of view when they first heard their GF/BF was dying. The nurse had held up the phone to the GF/BF's mouth because they were so weak they couldn't hold the phone, and they couldn't really speak, so they just listened to their loved ones' words while the GF/BF was taking their last breath. The boy/girl are both crying because they wished that they had more time left.

"I hate this, I'm jaded" the boy and girl are both admitting that they are feeling fucked up and are different now and they just hate all of this and want their GF/BF back.
