Blue Valentines Lyrics

Great song, but I don't agree with any of the theories of allusions to murder. Murder is not a cardinal sin. The cardigan sins are pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth. When he refers to bloodstains on his hands, I think it's in reference to being the one who initiated or caused the breakup. He left and didn't give any closure to the relationship, it didn't get its proper "eulogy" and the guilt has left blood on his hands.

Song Meaning

@HungryghostTX Ughhhhhh I jumped the gun. Apparently, I didn't pay attention during my catechism classes because I remembered murder as a mortal sin. But cardinal sins and mortal sins are terms used interchangeably. I also typed "cardigan" sins in the comment above. Am I drunk?! Maybe. I still don't think the song refers to murder. Thank you and have a wonderful night.
