To me this song is a bit like innocent greed, but talking about a longterm relationship that's not going well and about to end.
One doesn't seem to understand it, taking the other for granted (so why don't you close the door...)/ that person also made the other suffer a lot along the road.
The other is trying to convince his/herself that ending their relationship, the "lie", is now the right thing to do, and maybe has found the strenght to escape at the end of the song.
