This song is, if you are familiar with (BK’s drummer) Tobi Vail’s band, The Frumpies, a kind of sister song to Deliberate Indifference. While the Frumpies song is about an old friend who you feel nostalgic about but they are like a different person now and their new friends are the reason, this song is also nostalgic about an old friend who has changed. However, it isn’t an outside influence but their own mind that keeps this person from going out of the house, seizing the moment. (Incidentally, I am almost positive that it’s not “situation statistical” but “situation statical” which makes a lot more sense. She’s saying “see yourself as others see you.” As someone who they want to be around (“I’ll wait for you outside”). I could write 2000 more words but this is incredibly difficult on an iphone. I guess if you want to hear more or want me to dissect another song (i have an M.A. in English Lit and this is literally all I did for 6 years: dissection of words strung together) let me know.
