They obviously wanted to work the title of the film into the song, but it doesn't make sense. The Moonraker in the movie is a shuttle. The Moonraker in the novel is a rocket. A moonraker in real life is apparently the top sail on a ship. So ... how does that work in the song?

@KinksRock It seems that Moonraker is the name of her dream lover. There's various definitions online. One is villagers hiding treasure in the lake. When they retrieve it (to pay taxes?) they do it by moonlight and their reflection in the water is moonraking.

In the novel I always assumed Drax's missile was simply Moonraker..high enough to touch the moon.

But in the end I'm sure that Fleming liked the sound more than its technical meaning.

It really grows on me. I like David Arnold's cover with a very good singer.. it's closer to the traditional Bond sound. If...
