Took me a while to parse this song, but I think it’s about the narrator darkly fantasizing whether he can, more or less, kill his partner by wishing her dead (or if you prefer, kill her with “black magic.”)
Its Tricky, so he tends to use fairly abstract and suggestive lyrics, but I think the narrator is basically stuck in a long-term relationship he’s not terribly enthralled with, is at the point where his significant other is asking to have his kid (“Making children… are you strong enough to take care of one…”) and is basically bitter enough that he’s fantasizing he can just wish her dead and be done with the relationship (‘I lie awake and hate you/Maybe that’s wrong enough to make you…Make you play with a weapon/A gun in your mouth, my voice in your mind’).
Pretty dark subject matter, like so much of the album it appears in.
