also considering the group has mostly black ppl I would say this song is about black power I mean the lyrics are pretty straight forward from the beginning verse to the third it explains pretty much all of it on its own tho the “devil” could be a symbol of anybody from any race. I like the part where it goes “youth and truth are makin love, dig it for a starter .” To me they are mostly saying like black mistreatment or something of that sort is starting to get better and they like it but it’s only the beginning and there’s still a lot more to go. “Dying young is hard to take, sellin out is harder.” This part might mean being a snitch, like it’s either death and dying young and being over with it or you tell the cops or someone with power and have to be taken into witnesses protection almost like hiding for the rest of your life from whoever you snitched on, I could go on but I don’t feel like typing so I would mostly say this song is about black power and abolishing segregation
