I want to say first that I don't know anything about the bible, but I do know that Mary and Adam are biblical names. I don't know if that's a coincidence or it plays into the theme.

The tone of the words aren't vindictive towards Mary, nor do they blame Adam, just lays out the situation plainly. That makes me think it's a friend of both people, who wanted Adam to come clean and not string Mary along.
