From my interpretation, the meaning of this is that her significant other left her and now she’s so sad that she’s become numb. She says “I'll keep it so quiet, They will never see, The beautiful smile you bestowed in me” and i take that as her saying that she’ll never feel happy again and no one will see her smile bc she lost the person who gave her a reason to smile. She also mentions leaving the gas burning overnight which could be her saying “i’ll leave the light on for you if you come back one day”. She has that last sliver of hope that this person will return but it’s slipping away from her.
