This song’s lyrics really do confuse me. Quite honestly I believe this song could have many possible story outcomes, but here is what I think it could be about; the narrator sings about himself, feeling out of place. He tells the story of him moving away, and meeting a girl, who shares the similar problem of “not being enough” and feeling out of place. She explains to the narrator she’s “unworthy” as her past boyfriend left her. She continues to list her qualities but can’t find an explanation on why he could have possibly left her. We know this as she states “I’m friendly and thoughtful and quite awfully pretty, but he needed more than me” we see that the narrator falls for this girl and he sings “she don’t know her worth in this town”. We see that the validation from other men make her feel wanted, as it brings her joy when she gets checked out. By the end of the song we learn the narrator hope the girl gets “better” and realised her worth, as our narrator can no longer take it anymore. \nSo, overall I believe this song is about a man singing about a girl he’s fallen in love with, and has tried to show her she’s more than an object, but in the end he couldn’t watch her get hurt anymore
