Cover art for Flannel lyrics by Cardboard Swords, The

I think the narrator is talking about a past lover, who doesn’t seem to want him anymore. \n“You said that I should get a clue, well I did, and it was to rid my heart of you” \nCould be referring to the past lover telling him to move on. \n\n“I found a clue, but I still can’t stop thinking about you” \nMay mean he’s possibly moved, or started to move on, but can’t stop thinking about her. \n“So fuck with my heart at your leisure, that’s how it goes or it’s been going lately” \nIs referring to himself being used to fill in the free time. \n\n“ Stay warm in that flannel that I left on your bed, there was no way in hell I could put it on after that, \'cause we were both soaking wet. And I apologize if from time to time, it makes you think of me” \nIs referencing a memory they shared together, and apologising if his shirt reminds her of those times. \n\n“I had to change my way home from work because I couldn’t even stand to drive by her and see her on her front lawn, bikini on, getting a tan.” \nThe narrator explains he has to make changes about his life because there are constant reminders she no longer wants him.\n\n“Someone, somewhere, said all good things end. \nSo, what in my mind made me think this time would be different?”\nIs talking about how he knows all good things end, and questions why he made himself think this time would be different. \n\nOverall I think this song is about a man missing his ex girlfriend, and how he should have seen the signs it wasn’t going to last
