Sean Flynn was the son of the actor Errol Flynn.
He became a journalist and covered the Indo-China wars.
He and Dana Stone went missing in Cambodia.
Before they went missing they used to knowck around with a group of journalists including Michael Herr and Tim Page.
Tim page later went on to work for Rolling Stone and covered The Clash, which is I suppose how The Clash became aware of Sean Flynn and I guess was the inspiration for this song. I suspect Tim Page and his photos were also the inspiration for some of the imagery surrounding The Clash in that period.
