This almost sounds like Head Like a Hole part 2.

Head Like a Hole was very feisty, deliberate, and independent, to say the least, and somewhere along the way we confused seeking individual meaning for ourselves as being synonymous with loneliness, and then tried to fix the loneliness with aligning to thoughtless purpose of others’. So now we have a very troubled and frustrating problem where the bitterness toward the world and wanting to change it cannot be legitimate because it doesn’t mean anything personal to us at this point in time.

It’s almost like resignation or giving up.

I find it even more interesting when listening to

  • Head Like a Hole
  • I’m on a roll by Ashley O
  • then this song

In that order, because it’s almost like they’re talking to each other and the resignation is: you did this to yourself because you never gave it a meaning in the first place.
