So I love all your interpretations…I view it a little differently.

I think she’s speaking to a friend, possibly a younger friend. And I believe the song is about growing up, moving on, moving away from the ppl you love. But she feels stuck bc she hasn’t done that yet. But wants to.

She says “you’re not me, you’re a model of freedom” and then “it’s the time it takes to blow away”. So maybe she feels like she’s too tied down or stuck where she is and her friend isn’t. Her friend has the ability to leave easier.

“And it’s the time we waste, swallowed into space” this represents how we kind of just go through the motions of living sometimes without ever making any real/big decisions.

“We are doomed but we wanted more” - we know or at least have the feeling that we’re gonna be stuck here but we want to be doing so much more. Going to new places but we just know we won’t bc we waste time living a mundane life. If that makes sense.

“It’s the ride we take, the many winged escape”- the ride is life and the many winged are people who have an easier time jumping into things, trying new things. They’re the ones that get to “blow away” and do all the things you want to do. I think “blow away” has somewhat of a negative connotation to it bc I think she’s speaking of someone close to her that’s leaving.

“It’s the times we say that no ones gonna take your place. It’s a mistake, to blow away. We blow away.”- I think this is self explanatory. It’s that promise you make to your friends before you leave. But things never stay the same which is why it’s a mistake. And then she ends it by saying that basically we all end up blowing away, moving on. Said kind of in defeat but accepting of the reality of life.
