However living through active alcoholism & loving someone who is 100% dependent on alcohol to survive, (cuz yes that happens), & it’s not pretty. Once to that point the alcoholic can not stop drinking without medical detox because withdrawal is fatal. These lyrics touch on that & then move into the insidious addiction of the disease of alcoholism & the chaos it brings, and sadly the choice to continue drinking because the obsession is greater than the will to live.
