18- legal age for marrying without parental consent; yellow roses=possibly Harrison's rose (Texas); wedding ring= father's hope that the boy who's done this thing (pregnancy) is man enough to do the right thing (wedding ring); father always that girl would be "true" (virginal, married by paternal consent,) "now there's only one thing left for me [Dad] to do (meet the boy). Yep- even so, Dad will "stand by" his daughter.
