What the artist means
This track is a welcome return to the rapper's gangster rap roots, he's running the streets, retracing his steps, and doing some real street things. He's rapping about the friends he left behind, he's rapping about those that are six feet under, he's rapping about the heartbreaks, he's rapping about his buddies that are in jail, and he vows to never go back. NLE is spitting with aggression, he's telling us all the tribulations and sins that he's seen at his young age. He's watching out for the police, he's making boss moves, and he thinks about the stormy days even though he's bringing the rain. Ms. Lanez closes out the track with her amazing vocals and reminds us that the life of a hustler is no joke.
What the song means to me
This track has the makings of a thug anthem; it sees 50 dips in his gangster rap bag which he hasn't delved into for quite some time. He's spitting like he hasn't in years, he sounds ultra-focused, and it's clear that he took his time on this one. I didn't know that NLE had it in him, but he bodied the track and murdered the beat. Lanez sounded as awesome as ever, and this trifecta sure spazzed. Let's not forget about how awesome the beat was, and huge plaudits must be given to 50 for making this happen, it's immaculate yet gritty. I will give this song a rating of 8/10.
