The chorus made sence at the time, because of what I was going through.
Hearing it again more than 10 years later, this song sounds like it's about a couple who had no time for each other - one is always waiting, as if "on another planet", while the other is busy, "into something that (they) always had to do".
Maybe one got sick of waiting for the other, so the third verse alludes to them fighting.
Now I wonder what that old friend was trying to say, if anything.
