So I'm here to interpret Burial's "Rival Dealer". Properly intimidated.

These thoughts are darkness itself. It says that "I'm gonna love you more than anyone." The "I'm" makes one feel as though they are being addressed personally in "front" of them. With a haunting refrain at the end of it.
Burial's Rival Dealer.
It's amazing what songs have come to me to me. God is involved in all of them--- I wonder what the creators of these songs would say about that. I think they would get it though. I'm getting through life with these tunes but, who knows, I mean--- I think I know--- what the real meaning was. On a higher level perhaps all the songs are about the relationship with God/Dharma "Sometimes you are trying to find yourself--- and you run away always. Thats what happened to me."

Maybe God is saying that--- Maybe William Bevan is. I don't "know." I feel a resonance with the latter though. I think the song is designed in a way that is like religion. It takes on what it needs to in anyone's particular life experience.

"I have chosen you disciple."

Obviously this means that God has chosen you to bear the deep secrets. The esoteric secrets of struggle that might help you come to a deeper realization. The song has meant many things to me over the years-- "Sometimes you are trying to find yourself, and you runaway always."

I personally see this line as a line from God himself. He created the universe, yet he is running away from himself always. Because the thoughts of having created this disgustingly excusite reality are enough to make any One sick to themselves. So he runs away from himself despite finding himself. And all of us know the feelings of trying to "find ourselves" but taken to completion, wouldn't the father of this reality have to reckon with his own .... seemingly perpetual inequalities that reinforce the nature of infinity and give freshness to "chance". He would eventually have to face that horrible realization. And like a fresh roadkill would even smell the blood so near to the act. Always so near to the act. Of creating this horribly perpetually fresh dish of reality that through its intangibles reinforces the savoring of itself?

Anyway. That is how I see it, to myself. The sounds remind me of a ...cathedral. just not during the day, at night. "This is who I am."

"Something came down to us."
