Cover art for Hoax lyrics by Taylor Swift

The closing track of Taylor's new album 'Folklore' was written by Taylor Swift and Aaron Dessner. Produced by Aaron Dessner. It was recorded by Jonathan Low and Aaron Dessner at Long Pond (Hudson Valley, NY). Mixed by Jonathan Low at Long Pond (Hudson Valley, NY). Mastered by Randy Merrill at Sterling Sound (New York, NY). The track was released on July 24, 2020.

What the artist means On ‘hoax’, Taylor closes out the masterpiece with a gem of a track. The strings are amazing and her wordplay is for the keeps, she carefully spaces out each word and it is too clear that she did this while playing the piano. She talks about a great big hoax and does so using a voice that would be the envy of every major or minor singer out there. She paints the most vivid of pictures in the fewest possible words on this one as she describes a great big hoax she believed in. The track is melodic yet melancholic, it is sorrowful yet nostalgic. It sees her baring out her heart over a failed relationship or fling and the background vocals are absolutely perfect on this one. Taylor set out to make therapeutic music on this album and age did such a great job on this final track.

What the song means to me The song means quite a lot to me. Every now and then an amazing artist releases an amazing body of work however for some reason best known to them they end up ruining it with a pathetic final track or skit. However, on this track Taylor manages to break from the norm. It's beautiful, in sync and such an enthralling way to close out a beauty of an album. I will give this song a rating of 10/10.
