Life’s a mess really clicks with me. When first listening to the song I was intrigued by the different sounds and beats playing. The lyrics at the beginning of the song make me think the guy singing has finally found the love of his life, however as I continued to listen I learned that he was talking about being hurt by the one he loved.
As the music continues, I like how he talks about not throwing in the towel when you feel like you’re the only one trying. It sounds like he was trying to make it work with his last relationship, or is the only one trying to find true love, but he continues searching despite all the heartbreaks and downfalls he’s faced.
Towards the end of the song I was to the point of thinking the song was just a breakup song, only to find out the real message of the lyrics. The artist thought he had found true love but was heartbroken when he was the only one giving in the relationship and it’s sadly ended. Luckily, to his surprise, the artist found what he was looking for all along. The true love of his life and someone that makes him happy.
I feel like the message the artist is trying to portray is simple. Sometimes things don’t work out, jobs, relationships (in this case) or whatever it might be. It isn’t always a bad thing. Sometimes things happen for a reason, and in this story it was having your heart broken, given time to heal and reflect, and then given the opportunity of real love in which he grabs ahold of.
Things happen for a reason, although sometimes we don’t always see them in the moment.
