This entire album came after the loss of a few of singer Cameron Boucher's friends, and he went through a period of feeling very alone. In this song, he talks about how even though they are gone, he feels like they are still with him every step of the way, and if they can be there for him, then why aren't any of his friends that are still alive there for him? All the verses in the song start with someone else is speaking to him and he answers them. In the second verse, he is asked if he needs anything, and he essentially says, 'well, I'm still here, aren't I? Isn't that all I really need at this point, all I need to do is stay alive even though they didn't?' "I've seen both sides of the field and lost more blood than one should yield" is referring to how he has seen suicide both as the one who wants to die, and as the one that has experienced the loss, the loss of those he was close to and considered family, making them "his blood" in some way, and he's lost more of that blood than his own body was capable of holding. "Is there anything I can do?" another question, which he answers with irritation, because everyone keeps asking him that and he doesn't know what to tell them, all he knows is that he's tired of people worrying about him and trying to help him get over it, when he's not ready to be over it yet. "Cameron, how can I help?" which he answers "take care of yourself," because he's lost too many friends already. The best thing anyone could do for him is to stay alive, because he can't stand to lose more.
@BonnieT also, to add, the line "it gets pretty cold when at 23 years old you've been running from death your whole life" is about how he has been suicidal a very long time, and surrounded by people who are. In the song "A Portrait Of", he says the line "since I was 13 I've struggled with manic depression" that song is very good and I highly recommend you listen to it. This entire album goes together well. Each song tells a different part of his story.
