I love the Live in Australia version. On one hand I see it as a dependent relationship with the writer being needy and at times abusing the “love”.
But on the other hand, I gravitate to the “guardian angel” line and think of a deceased person in my life who’s memory helps me when I’m down, feel out of control and I need her to turn to for comfort. Just fits for me!
